Red Hand Pointing Right

My Personal Take on the Subject

I belive that the Articles of Confederation implied the ideals of the Declaration of Independence. I think this because the articles made sure the government didn't have too much power and the citizens still had rights.

The Articles

When all 13 states made there own constitutions, the constituions set up a system of government. Each state had a legislature-to make laws- and most of the legislatures were divided into two houses. The states also had an executive and a judicial branch.
The Articles of Confederation had big weaknesses in it. Congress had no taxation power, so it had to rely on the states collecting taxes, not the government. Also Congress had no power to enforce the law so they had to rely o the states to enfore law which the states didn't like.
This article had strong points ,too. The Congress was allowed to maintain armies for protectional purposes and they  had pemission to borrow money and issue currencies. I believe that the best accomplishment of this was making a fair policy for the developing lands just west of the Appalachian Moutains.
